We fell in love with Provence years ago and are thrilled to branch out from our Italian tours to share this beautiful area with you! This region of southern France is filled with rivers, vineyards and quaint medieval towns, each one more beautiful than the last. Famous for its hot climate, wines, lavender and markets, the people are some of the kindest we’ve met. The villages seem untouched by time and the markets are filled with exceptional local products – Provencal fabrics, soaps, artisan meats, cheeses and breads, lavender sachets and ceramics.
The cuisine of Provence is evocative of Tuscany with its focus on seasonal produce, olive oil and local herbs. Unlike Tuscany, there is an abundant use of fresh fish and seafood from the Mediterranean. The wines of Provence are primarily Rosé, with incredible red and white wines from the nearby Southern Rhone area as well.
Our home for the week is outside the small town of Noves, south of Avignon, perfectly situated for our daily excursions. Originally a 17th C grain mill, the estate has been lovingly and beautifully restored with several houses renovated to host various sized groups. The buildings are constructed with the local tawny stone, and the estate is wonderfully landscaped with each house having private outdoor spaces for dining and relaxing. Each bedroom has its own dedicated bathroom. The owners welcome us with a tour on our first evening to help you better appreciate the incredible history of the estate and area.
